I love this picture! There is something so sweet, to me, about Hayden sleeping with his Grandude. Plus, Jesse seemed to sleep a bit deeper with Hayden there. I must admit, it is hard to stay awake with a sleeping baby in the house.
Now. Onto something not as sweet.
Jesse and I had a disagreement yesterday. No, it was an argument. Well, truth be told, it was a fight. (Face it. When you and your hubby argue and one of you has to leave the vicinity to cool off, --- You, lady, just had a FIGHT.) Well, we don't do it often. Frankly, we are really bad at it. But, occasionally we do. I guess you are wondering why I am airing part of my dirty laundry in public. Well, it is because I learned an important lesson.
Don't ever, ever, ride a bike when you are mad.
Cause this is what happens:
1. You strap your shoes on so tight you can't feel your toes - and your not even on the road yet.
2. You get out on the main highway and you realize that you forgot your helmet.
3. Then you have to turn around and ride up the steep hill leading to your driveway.
4. Then, cause you are mad, you decide to ride your bike on the gravel in your driveway.
5. After getting your helmet, with your judgment still impaired, you ride on the gravel, again.
6. Cause you are on the bike and can't kick the dog, you yell at him, menacingly, to STAY!
7. As you are yelling, you look at the dog and try to put your shoes into the pedals.
8. About half way thru the screeching, your left foot will slip; missing the pedal.
9. Your right foot will be at the bottom of it's stroke and even though you pull up...
10. The gravel will sabotage you.
11. And you will fall to the ground. Kissing the gravel.
12. The dog will see this as his chance and jump on you.
13. Even this indignity and pain won't deter you. You are going to ride! Ride! RIDE!
14. You pick yourself up, check out your wounds, and get back on the bike.
The dog,wisely, disappears.
15. You head down the road - into a head wind.
No matter that you are going down hill, you still are creeping along.
16. About 1/2 a mile into your ride, you realize that only half of your hiney is on the saddle.
The other half is kinda hanging.
17. On further introspection, you'll realize that your right leg is having difficulty pedalling,
since it is being forced sideways.
18. Even your muddled brain figures out that between a scraped up leg (that is still bleeding a little,) a banged up elbow that is swelling by the minute, and a seat that is pointing sideways, you cannot ride.
19. So what to do? You go home. Pop some popcorn and feel sorry for yourself.
So, ladies, just save yourself some time, energy, bruises and self esteem. Follow my advice.
Don't ever ride a bike while you are mad.
